The Journal is proud to present a commemorative book of the fires, floods, ice storms, and other disasters that have struck Martinsburg over the years.
The Eastern Panhandle has had its share of disasters over the years. Many residents will recall the Storm of the Century, a blizzard that struck our area in March 1993 and many will also remember the Election Day Flood from November 1985. Further back yet are the St. Patrick's Day Flood from March 1936, the fire that destroyed the Washington House hotel and nearly an entire city block in August 1974. Get the book that captures the wide array of calamities that have struck our area and the indomitable spirit of our community to rise together.
