On Gainesville’s 150th birthday, The Gainesville Sun is pleased to announce a commemorative coffee-table book, “Gainesville Memories: A Photographic History of the Early Years.”

This beautiful, heirloom-quality book will feature a glimpse of the Gainesville area from the early years through stunning historic photos. We are excited to showcase images carefully selected from the archives of Alachua County Library District, Florida Historical Society, Matheson History Museum, University of Florida Archives, alongside never-before-seen photos from our readers. This hardcover book truly captures the rich heritage of the Gainesville area.

I think the book will be great. A lot of the pictures were fabulous in showing the history of Gainesville. I can’t wait to see the finished project.
